Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program
Mission United is a critical initiative administered by United Way of Broward County to support U.S. military service members, veterans, and their families. Mission United is a multi-agency alliance that assists veterans in re-acclimating to civilian life.
The SSVF Program is a vital component of Mission United.
The Veterans Administration (VA) awarded an SSVF homeless grant to United Way of Broward County for the provision of housing and supportive services to very low-income veteran families residing in or transitioning to permanent housing in Broward County.
The SSVF Program is available to:
Single veterans, a family with a veteran head of household or a family with a head of household whose spouse is a veteran who are at 50% or lower of Broward County’s area median income
Currently residing in permanent housing and at-risk of losing their housing and becoming homeless (limited resources available for this category)
Currently homeless and scheduled to transition to permanent housing in 90 days
Currently homeless and exited permanent housing in previous 90 days for improved housing stability
The SSVF Program assists veterans and veteran families through the following supportive services:
o Affordable Supportive Housing
o Case Management o VA Benefits & Resources Acquisition
o Emergency & Financial Assistance
o Income Support Services: Educational, Vocational & Employment
o Legal Counsel
o Health Care Access
o Child Care Subsidies
